Xmas gifts for Mary Kihn kids

The Observatory Pick n Pay Family Supermarket is appealing to their generous customers to support the store’s Christmas Gift campaign.

Each year, the Obs Pick n Pay store collects donations of gifts and distributes them to various charities in the community at the end of the year. These charities work with young, underprivileged children, youth, homeless people and the elderly.

The Mary Kihn School for the hearing impaired, based in Low Street, is one of the organisations that will benefit from the Christmas Gift Campaign. The School provides education, daily meals, audiology and speech therapy services to Deaf children and those with hearing impairments.

The school has 90 learners, aged between 3 years old and 14 years old, who come from underprivileged areas.

Obs Pick n Pay has partnered with the Mary Kihn school for more than five years. With the support from customers, the store has been able to host annual Easter Egg Hunts at the school. Mary Kihn has also benefited from the stationery donations that flood in every year.

The store hopes to make this festive season extra special for the learners at the school. The names, age and gender of each learner hangs on the Christmas tree at the front of the store.

Customers can select a name tag from the tree and fill a shoebox with items such as clothing, stationery, toys, books, hygiene items, etc. These gifts will be handed to the children by Obs Pick n Pay’s very own Santa Claus at the Christmas party held in December.

The store is also collecting gift boxes for the Straatwerk, Cape Town Multi Service Centre, Arcadia Old Age Home and the Jubilee Church.

Observatory Pick n Pay Family Supermarket is open daily from 7am to 10pm. Phone 021 448 9802.

Thank you for all your support!
