ADVERTORIAL - Obs PnP charity continues

From soup kitchens to a sanitary items drive, the community outreach efforts of Observatory Pick n Pay Family Supermarket have been in full swing over the past few months.

Thanks to the generosity and the out-pouring of support they receive from customers, they were able to make a difference.

With the help of numerous donations and assistance from the community, Obs Pick n Pay have made winter a little more bearable for many who depend on the soup kitchen hosted at the Methodist church in Salt River.

Zeenith Thomas, Obs Pick n Pay customer care manager, said their store was able to donate ingredients such as vegetables and bread to the local soup kitchen.

They also donated 100 loaves of bread to the homeless people of Straatwerk.

Straatwerk is a non-profit organisation that offers employment to homeless people and are contracted by neighbouring improvement.

The bread was used to make sandwiches for the homeless on Mandela Day.

On Women’s Day. the store gave away various spot prizes to lucky customers.

The store is currently supporting the Dignity for Girls project that aims to provide sanitary towels and tampons to grade 12 girls from Langa High.

Many girls in underprivileged communities have to skip school when they are on their menstrual cycle because they cannot afford sanitary items.

The project aims to give girls back their dignity by providing them with this basic necessity.

Customers can donate sanitary towels or tampons by placing it in the trolley at the entrance of the store.

The store are also supporting The Sunflower Foundation by selling bandanas to raise funds for the organisation.

The Sunflower Foundation aims to raise awareness and educate the public on blood diseases such as Leukaemia.

Zeenith said that Obs Pick n Pay is always grateful for the positive feedback and support the store receives with all of their outreach projects.
