REVIEW - Magical music at Mowbray pub

BY Richard Thomas

Can one word describe a whole evening of magical music?

Recently, I was lucky enough to experience Wendy Oldfield and Robin Auld, along with Lionel Bastos in their second set, live in concert at a ※new§ music venue in Little Mowbray, The Thomas Easton.

Wendy Oldfield and Robin Auld, former members of Sweatband and Lancaster bands respectively, are now solo performers that occasionally collaborate with other artists.

The two are well known to South African music lovers for their hits. Throughout the years their music has evolved from the pop-rock sound of their early recordings to their current contemporary mix of blues and roots.

In a room overflowing with the duo's supporters, they gave a dazzling performance throughout the night.

Their first set featured popular classic hits that we have come to love sprinkled with a mix of recently released music.

During their second set, Wendy and Robin were joined by Lionel Bastos, a SAMA award winning singer & songwriter.

The performance of the three left the audience spell bound by each note. It was a proper dose of international quality musical entertainment equivalent to what one would pay fortunes to see at any venue in New York, London or Paris.

It was a night full of magical music entertainment. Leaving the audience basking in the afterglow. Well, for me that one word is WOW.
