Obs demographic census underway

Following the recent Visioning Workshop, the need to have a more in depth understanding of Observatory's demographic makeup has become evident.

The workshop, hosted by the Observatory Civic Association (OCA), Obs Improvement District (OBSID) and the OBS Neighbourhood Watch (ONW), showed that a local census is needed to be able to tailor initiatives and projects in an informed way that best satisfies all community members.

It also emerged that communication channels between partner organisations, residents and businesses need to be further simplified.

The OCA, OBSID and ONW are, therefore, appealing to all residents to participate in the demographic census, which will be conducted from 29 July 2017 to 06 August 2017.

The census will be an online survey provided on our social media platforms through the OCA, OBSID and ONW. Surveys will also be conducted at physical ※hotspots§, such as at the Kwikspar.

The survey consists of a couple of easy questions and will take two minutes of your time.

It will help Obs' community organisations improve security, the environment and communication. All participants will be entered into a lucky draw for a R500 cash prize.

The winner will be announced once surveys from 1 500 houses of the 2 200 in the OBSID area have been submitted. So do get your neighbours to complete the census.
