OBSID - Officers assist with 22 arrests
OBSID Public Safety update by Graham Porter:
Public Safety is a focus for all Special Rating Areas (SRA’s) in the greater Cape Town area, and Obs is no different.
We have had steadily increasing success in our crime statistics for March, and the new Security Service Provider, OuterShield, is settling in well, and the security officers have proved themselves with 22 arrests for the month.
We layer our services, and they involve our Public Safety managers, Security team, Metro law enforcement officers, and of course, our ever present SAPS Woodstock members on patrol.
Crime in our area is ever changing as the suburb is at a junction of freeways, train and taxi routes.
These routes and freeways provide easy access to opportunistic criminals who use that access to get into our neighbourhood, commit crime, and exit via the surrounding entry exit points.
Because of this, we are positioning our resources where they can respond quickly and effectively as the pattern of crime changes.
Although our crime stats are up for march from 68 in February to 81 in March, the comparison to last year is still way lower, and the trend continues to reduce year on year.

If you see one of our officers on the street, say hello and introduce yourself. They really do enjoy getting to know the residents of OBS!
